ABOUT THE POSITION

Our business seeks an experienced Operations Readiness Lead to join our team on a 2 year fixed term basis working a Monday to Friday roster at our Kwinana Refinery.

The successful applicant will be accountable for overseeing and leading the operational readiness and handover to operations for Tianqi Lithium Kwinana’s (TLK) portfolio of ramp-up brownfield projects. They will ensure the operation’s maintenance and production system and teams are ready to start up and achieve plant stability and reliability.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides input to the owner’s execution strategy and ensures that execution plans are consistent.
  • Lead and manage the operational readiness team to deliver a portfolio of brownfield projects, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Develop and implement operational readiness plans, schedules, procedures, and verification plans.
  • Develop and implement change management strategies supporting new and modified systems into the operating phase.
  • Provide documentation, update systems, training, and support to maintenance and operational staff to ensure they are fully prepared to operate and maintain new and modified systems.
  • Be responsible for coordinating key interfaces between the operational readiness team and operations teams; maintenance and production and their involvement throughout and acceptance plans agreed by all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Project managers, design and discipline engineers, commissioning team, construction team, OEM, and equipment suppliers to prepare the operation readiness deliverables.
  • Ensure all operations readiness activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements.
  • Ensure proper handover documentation is completed.
  • Provide leadership to ensure that the commissioning team aligns on the project goals and priorities are understood.
  • Create a highly committed and collaborative team environment focusing on safe, reliable, and flawless start-up.
  • Ensures governance of the owner’s project execution process specifically compliance to procedures and policies. 
  • Manage relationships and use ‘Best for Project’ decision-making to deliver project objectives.
  • Manage execution risk within accountabilities including project risk matrix.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying lessons learned, and implementing best practices to enhance future project delivery.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Tertiary degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral processing or heavy industrial plants with a minimum of 5 years in operational readiness roles.
  • Proven experience in leading operational teams and managing a portfolio of brownfield projects.
  • Knowledge of Australian engineering and construction practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak project phases.
  • Ability to implement effective risk mitigation.
  • Ability to form relationships at all levels in the project organisation and key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the application of digital technologies throughout the project phase.
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience with a customer focus mindset.
