About Us

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet supports the Premier as head of the Western Australian Government. The Department is a central agency that leads the public sector in providing advice and support to the Premier and Cabinet in their service of the Western Australian Community. We foster a workplace culture based on our core values, Leadership, Connection and Impact. For more information about the Department, please visit our website .

The Data Unit is an interdisciplinary team tasked with improving how the public sector uses evidence to make better decisions and policy. We work with a broad range of agencies and tackle the State’s most complex social, health, environmental and economic issues. The work we do underpins better strategy, operations, and service delivery in the whole sector.

About the Role

We are seeking talented and motivated individuals with a passion for achieving outcomes to join us.

This is an engaging and multifaceted job with opportunities to work with a broad range of stakeholders, and get involved with projects that shape decisions in government.

As part of this role, you will:

  • support research that underpins whole of government policy and strategy,
  • ensure WA’s linked data asset, PeopleWA, remains responsive to key needs of government,
  • provide advice and assistance to researchers, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, community service organisations and government, and
  • coordinate a number of interagency forums.

Data or technical experience is not necessary. This is not a technical role; we are looking for someone with an understanding of how evidence can shape better public policy outcomes, and a desire to work across agencies to identify priorities, bottlenecks and solutions.

You will work with a team of dedicated and talented public servants who will want you to succeed in your role and have a real passion for improving outcomes in the sector and the community.

If you are a keen collaborator and want to contribute to work that has long-lasting impacts, then we want to hear from you
