We currently have a full-time, permanent opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager to join our cancer centre, located in Wollongong, NSW.
As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will be responsible for leading the nursing team at your site to align with Cancer Care Wollongong's strategy, vision, and values. This involves leveraging advanced nursing knowledge and skills, providing exemplary leadership, and fostering effective communication to ensure a motivated workforce and efficient resource management while addressing all regulatory requirements.
The Nurse Unit Manager should possess a deep understanding of current trends, research, and policies in oncology nursing. Working closely with the centre leader, quality & compliance team, and Director of Nursing, you will ensure the application of evidence-based, best practice guidelines.
More Specifically, You Will:
- Lead the nursing staff by serving as an exemplary role model and maintaining high levels of communication.
- Conduct performance development and management as necessary, including annual performance reviews for the nursing team.
- Actively support and champion Cancer Care Wollongong's initiatives to enhance culture, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness, assuming leadership roles in projects when required.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary onsite team, including doctors, physicists, radiation therapists, nursing, and administrative staff, to implement efficient and effective workflow processes. Evaluate and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Play a pivotal role in performing, managing, implementing, and enhancing the quality of the patient experience.
What You Will Need:
- Current Registration as a Nurse with AHPRA.
- Clinical experience as a nurse, with a preference for at least 3 years of nursing experience and 1 year in oncology.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines, and standards.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to empathize with patients and their caregivers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to quality patient care and experience in effectively leading a team to achieve goals.

CCA is a leading oncology services provider in Australia, committed to evidence-based treatment in a multidisciplinary team environment, with an extensive and exciting growth pipeline ahead with new comprehensive centres under construction across NSW at Taree, and across QLD at Noosa and Moreton Bay, together with Radiation Oncology services to be established at the existing centres in Miranda and Wollongong.
We will see our network further expand in 2024 to ensure Australian communities have access to affordable, integrated cancer treatment services, not only providing essential cancer care services but reducing travel time and out-of-pocket expenses for cancer care patients in need.
