About the role - St. Thomas' Catholic Primary School seeks a full-time Primary Learning Leader (PLL) to drive student engagement, learning progress, and achievement. This continuing teaching role includes a three-year initial appointment as PLL, with a subsequent three-year renewal upon successful review. The position, currently released five days a week, includes a 3-unit PLL allowance. As a key figure, you will strengthen teacher capacity through exemplary teaching, mentoring, professional development, and collaboration. Your commitment to enhancing educational outcomes and school improvement aligns with system-wide strategies.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Create a nurturing and ordered learning environment which is learner-centred, safe, supportive, co-operative and aligned with relevant curriculum, policies and practices
  • Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
  • Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching
  • Support teachers in monitoring each student’s progress using data
  • Provide feedback and support to Teachers with classroom pedagogy and planning
  • Lead and coordinate curriculum implementation and development of pedagogy and assessment skills
  • Ensure effective teaching and improved achievement across all curriculum areas
  • Work with teachers to provide challenging and targeted learning opportunities for our high-potential learners.

About you - To be successful in this role you will bring relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience in Primary Learning Leading as well as:

  • Strong literacy, numeracy and digital literacy practices plus a clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum
  • Commitment to child safety
  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
  • An ability to work in partnership with colleagues, students and parents/carers
  • Attend in detail to innovative and creative practices
  • An ability to identify and cater for different learning styles
  • Competent at integrating digital technology into a contemporary learning environment

At BCE our teachers are required to:

  • Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration; and
  • Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

FAQ: Do I have to be Catholic?If this role does not require you to teach Religious Education, you do not need to be Catholic.
We support all teachers with Accreditation to Teach pathways after you start with us.
