Teaching - Primary (Education & Training)

Holy Spirit School is seeking a passionate and experienced Primary Learning Leader (PLL) and Support Teacher: Inclusive Education (ST:IE) to join our team. In this role, you will support student engagement, learning progress, and achievement. You must demonstrate a deep knowledge and experience with the Australian Curriculum (V.9), planning, QCAA requirements, NAPLAN data analysis, and NCCD documentation, review, and response. You'll also work closely with our friendly Guidance Counsellor to ensure our students receive the best support possible.


Our school, with an enrolment of 282 students across 13 class groupings, prides itself on maintaining high standards and fostering a thriving academic, social, and religious environment. The Leadership Team works collaboratively to ensure our students excel in all areas. Holy Spirit School promotes a family-friendly atmosphere, emphasizing wellbeing and a healthy work-life balance.


This role is anticipated to be 1.0 FTE, comprising 0.6 FTE as PLL and 0.4 FTE as ST:IE. It includes a part-time continuing ST:IE
appointment and an initial three-year appointment as PLL, with a potential three-year extension following a successful performance review.

We are open to considering splitting this role between two applicants to best meet the needs of our students and staff.

In this key position you will:

PLL:

  • Enhance teacher capacity and effectiveness
  • Model high-quality teaching & learning and mentoring & coaching
  • Ensure improved educational outcomes for students and continuous school improvement
  • Lead and coordinate curriculum implementation
  • Promote effective teaching and improved achievement in all curriculum areas

ST:IE:

  • Design and implement inclusive and effective teaching and learning strategies to engage and improve education outcomes of supported students
  • Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
    Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
    Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes aligned to The Alice Springs (Mparntwe) goals for young Australians
  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.


    About you -

To be successful in this role you will bring relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience as well as:

  • strong knowledge and experience working in Inclusive Education
  • Know and understand the Disability Discrimination Act and apply Disability Standards for Education
  • Demonstrated application of the NCCD model as part of a whole-school approach to supporting students with a disability
  • Proven ability to oversee and deliver a range of processes, including enrolment transitions, and mapping and planning functions to support inclusive education practices
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
  • strong knowledge and experience in implementing the Australian Curriculum
  • capacity to develop interpersonal relationships, establish productive partnerships, and work as part of a team to lead change
  • capacity to lead and manage activities which promote the engagement, learning progress and achievement of students
  • success as a classroom teacher and commitment to professional development

At BCE our teachers are required to:

  • Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration; and
  • Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Yes, for primary and Religious Education teachers. Regarding a pathway to become Catholic, some employees opt to undertake the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). We support all teachers with Accreditation to Teach pathways after you start with us.
