The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Data and Analytics, the Senior Data & Insight Analyst is a senior role within the Research and Innovation division, responsible for the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of a wide range of reports and visualisations.

Working closely and collaboratively with key business users, this role will ensure that their data and analytics activities align with both strategic and operational business priorities, providing high quality, robust and dependable data and reporting services.

Key responsibilities

Core accountabilities and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Supporting the business in conducting sophisticated analysis, identifying key trends, and providing actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualisation tools such as SQL, R, DAX, Power BI or Python, with a proven ability to handle and manipulate large and complex datasets.
  • Promote a culture of developing robust, secure and appropriate reporting designs and ensure these designs are implemented.
  • Deliver targeted, clear and impactful data visualisations and reports to facilitate data-enabled decision making including the design and build of reports and visualisations using Power BI, creating calculations using DAX, transforming and modelling data from structured and non-structured data.
  • Drive improved data quality by supporting and promoting the value of good data governance and supporting the adoption and enforcement of data standards.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is in place, covering detailed requirements (including both technical and non-functional), design specifications, etc.
  • Manage and develop ongoing communications with key stakeholders to ensure understanding of data products delivered, including training and providing support for delivered products.
  • Identify potential solution options, enhancements, and recommendations.
  • Actively participate in developing a positive and supportive team culture both within the Data Strategy and Analytics team, as well as in the broader Research and Innovation department.
  • Support the growth of a data driven culture across Silverchain, increasing the maturity of data literacy and awareness.
  • Enhancing the internal data and analytics capabilities by keeping abreast of industry trends and applicability.

About you

The ideal candidate will have significant previous exposure in a similar role and will be able to demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Business, Leadership, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics.
  • Expert communication skills, including the ability to tell stories using data.
  • Experienced analyst with focus on using data for decision making, preferably in health or aged care setting.
  • A deep understanding of the full lifecycle of developing reports, analytics and insights including:
    • Knowledge of relational database management systems to capture and utilise data.
    • Knowledge of data science and other contemporary analytics techniques.
    • Experience in leading engagements with senior stakeholders to develop actionable insights from disperse data and analysis.
    • Experience in data visualisation technologies such as Power BI
    • Experiencing in the use of data profiling techniques to analyse data from source systems.
  • Experience across the full data and reporting lifecycle (covering business and functional requirements, design, implementation, testing, etc.).
  • Experience with Lean and Agile delivery frameworks, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused attitude with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively, utilising best practice methods where possible.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the Microsoft DevOps capability from a process viewpoint is desirable.
  • Strong Knowledge of Data Science.
