About the Role
We are currently inviting Expressions of Interest for potential upcoming positions across the Pacific region from experienced and skilled Climate Change Technical Advisers and Specialists for short-term and long-term in-country program positions. We are keen to hear from those with a proven track record in successful climate change technical advisory deliverables. The successful candidates will be working with donor-funded programs in the Pacific region, providing high quality deliverables, and demonstrating strong technical skills and knowledge. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable attributes of being collaborative, respectful, agile and resilient, with a keen focus on achieving successful client and partner feedback.
This role is open to those looking to take the next step in their international development career, who are client-focused, enjoy solving complex challenges, passionate about working collaboratively to deliver ideas and advice in the climate change space that can help our Pacific Island Country partners, and being part of a dynamic team. About You
Duties and essential requirements for the roles will include:
- Support high level strategic implementation of key climate change policies and plans;
- Provide technical support and strategic advice to the in-country partners and government line ministries;
- Support the management of donor relationships and existing in-country initiatives to increase access to climate finance and the effective implementation of resources to achieve effective development outcomes;
- Support targeted resource mobilisation priorities and reforms;
- Support effective implementation of existing initiatives, programs, and partnerships- providing targeted support to initiatives requiring additional capacity support;
- Provide general legal and strategic advice as required to support new and emerging regional and international climate change policy issues;
- Working with Program leader(s) and DT Global’s Melbourne and in-country based teams on high-level programme matters.
Essential Requirements:
- A Postgraduate University degree in a relevant field (Climate Change/Environmental Science or Management, Climate Change/Environmental policy, etc);
- Minimum 10 years of professional working experience in a similar position with an international or national organisation;
- Significant experience in developing and delivering climate change action, including climate policy, climate finance, and climate project work;
- Good understanding of the international climate change negotiation and financing architecture and understanding of the requirements of climate financing organisations;
- Significant experience in supporting national climate finance readiness processes in the Pacific;
- Significant experience in supporting facilitation of multi-stakeholder engagement processes and consensus building;
- Experience in supporting climate finance proposal development processes;
- Experience in institutional development and capacity development;
- Excellent knowledge of regional climate-related processes;
- Experience in regional cooperation projects in the Pacific;
- Excellent project management, organisational, reporting and communication skills;
- Excellent team player with a strong interest to work in an international environment;
- Knowledge of donor-funded programs and multilateral donor agencies is highly desirable.
