Financial Controller

Reporting directly to the company Board & Management Team, the Financial Controller is responsible for the full financial and management accounting functions of the business. This includes managing all aspects of the finances of the company as well as providing sound and timely financial information to the Board to facilitate effective organisational decision making.
As the Financial Controller you will be responsible for :
. Regular budgeting and forecasting to assist with company goal execution;
. Preparation of monthly reporting for the company directors;
. Monitoring and management of operating cash flows and regular cash flow forecasting including USD currency and transactions;
. Oversee the Financial Management of the Beds R Us Group.
. Preparation and processing of the company’s payroll, including maintenance of employee’s payroll files, leave entitlements and EOFY processes on a weekly basis.
. Oversee full end of month process, including reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and journal entries for accruals.
. Preparation and lodgement of activity statements with the ATO and payroll tax return with the Office of State Revenue;
. Oversee company’s Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions and back up to Finance Officer as required;
. Assist the CEO and Board with ad hoc strategic financial planning and special projects as needed.
- Assist the company secretary with ASIC and related corporate affairs as needed including:
- Prepare and lodge compliance forms with ASIC as may be required from time to time
- Liaise with external accountant with respect to share registry requirements, maintenance and transfers
- Attend to compliance questions that may arise from time to time
The ideal person for this role will have:
. Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce;
. CPA or CA qualification will be highly regarded;
. Minimum of 5 years financial and management accounting experience;
. Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, MYOB, Xero and other accounting software.
. Strong attention to detail with dedication to accuracy and well-developed organisational skills;
. The ability to problem solve, prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast working and continually changing environment;
. A high degree of professionalism and appreciation for confidentiality;
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to communicate with all stakeholders in person, over the phone or by email;
. Experience in preparation of financial statements and report up to audit sign off as per accounting standards would be highly regarded;
. A hands on approach to all facets of the business.
