Join our dynamic team as Director, Governance and Strategy, and experience a day filled with strategic planning and performance management. You will provide invaluable leadership and advice aligned with our agency's vision and purpose while developing and improving our Governance Framework. With your expertise, you will lead the implementation of a robust risk management framework and ensure a consistent approach to risk across the Department of Youth Justice. As the leader of disaster management and business continuity functions, you will oversee the annual assurance exercise and ensure our preparedness and response during disruptive events. Additionally, you will lead key performance and reporting activities, including the departmental strategic plan and annual report, while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The position is responsible for leading and overseeing the management of governance, risk, planning and performance reporting activities for the department through an effective Performance Management Framework. It develops strategies to ensure that the department's governance and performance meets statutory obligations; and has effective mechanisms for business continuity and risk management. 

As the Director, you will: 

  • Lead and oversee the implementation and management of fit-for-purpose and robust governance, planning, performance and reporting policies and systems to ensure the effectiveness of agency programs are accurately reported within governance requirements. 
  • Develop and implement effective departmental strategies to encourage improved governance practices in business operations and work processes. 
  • Analyse and evaluate the provision of advisory services to the department and develop new strategies to ensure an effective delivery of programs. 
  • Cultivate and maintain executive partnerships and networks across the department to promote and drive clarity on departmental governance frameworks and business performance reporting activities. 
  • Lead and motivate a multi-disciplinary team by encouraging professional development and pursuing career opportunities. 

The Director, Governance and Strategy reports directly to the Deputy Director-General, Corporate Services.
