The Role
Thisrole is responsible for mechanical 2D and 3D design activities, supporting theMechanical Team. The roll begins withassisting experienced mechanical and piping designers while learning theskills, software and processes.
Withtime and experience the design role becomes self-sufficient with Engineeringguidance from the Mechanical Engineers and the wider team.
Thisrole requires initial familiarisation, training and exposure in the followingkey areas:
- 2D drafting and drawing updates,BricsCAD and NX PID Software
- 3D modelling in Siemens NX, witha primary focus on piping, piping supports, then mechanical design
- PLM familiarity in SiemensTeamcenter, BOM creation, updates and data exchange
- Spreadsheet development and dataexchange primarily in Excel
- Shipbuilding, with a primaryfocus on piping then mechanical design
- Shipbuilding and Productionfamiliarity, with interfaces with the Production Support team, and onboardinspections, photos and as-builts
As skills and experience develop the role shall be developedconsidering the employee's strengths as aligned with the Company's needs andgoals.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities and tasks are:
- Execution of design and drafting tasks assigned by the building group responsible engineer.
- Assembly of data and work packages and issuing those packages using the correct process
- Administrative and technical support of building group responsible engineers depending on level of knowledge
- Actively finding and implementing solutions to technical problems assigned by the building group responsible engineer
- Writing of project documentation in cooperation with the building group responsible
- Collaboration with the Mechanical Engineers AUS and GER as well as the Project Engineers embedded in the Engineering Project organization
- To manage design drawings and engineering changes and notices.
- Designers functionally report to their respective Team Lead.
Key responsibilities also include:
- Drafted execution of concepts and basic solutions for the area of outfitting design
- Finding solutions for project specific discrepancies between design and production in cooperation with the responsible Mechanical Engineer.
- Support the Mechanical Engineers in communication with internal and external customers (CASG, Class, Shipyards, Sub suppliers, etc.)
- Support the Mechanical Engineers and above-mentioned parties at inspections in production and with direct clarifications
- Learn and apply the Luerssen philosophy with regards to drawings and BOM management
- Learn and apply manufacturing basics from Luerssen manufacturing
- Participate in regular design reviews with shipbuilding fabrication and implement the discussed solutions as applicable
- Assist in providing site support by the Mechanical Team during the construction phase.
- Support the Mechanical Engineers in maintenance of project data
- Participate in meetings with multiple stakeholders
- Usage of the JIRA tool for task management as well as other software tools used within the company.
- Documentation and management of minor issues, escalating of larger issues.
- Follow up on lessons learned
- Providing feedback on design documents from varying parties.
- Participation and assistance in developing documents and deliverables for the respective project phases.
- Actively engage in change management by preparation and evaluation of BUFs as well as clarification with involved parties in cooperation with Shipbuilding Liaison Engineers and Area Mangers.
- Participation in FATs, HATs & SATs as required.
Requirements
- A relevant engineering qualification or similar
- A minimumof 2 years in a technical role on a shipbuilding project.
- Intermediatedrawing skills with 2D and 3D software.
- Knowledgeand understanding of technical production processes
- Knowledgeand understanding in manufacturing projects
- Experiencein realisation of industrial projects
- Considerationmay be given to a minimum of two years' experience on other multidisciplinaryEngineering or Construction projects
