Role Purpose:
- Safely optimise the operations and commercial performance of vessels to meet the requirements of the Company’s business objectives.
- Work in collaboration with external contractors to effectively service and maintain company vessels in accordance with operational needs, including dry dockings.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to optimise business and asset performance.
- Vessel Operations, Australasia.
Overall Responsibility for all Vessel operations matters for assigned fleet.
- Liaising with Chartering desk and Fleet Operations General Manager – Australasia Vessel Operations for vessel planning.
- Responsible for efficient management of vessel planned maintenance systems.
- Appoint and manage subcontractor services for fleet asset maintenance in conjunction with Fleet Operations General Manager – Australasia Vessel Operations.
- Planning of all vessel maintenance in consultation with the external contractors.
- Ensure planned and preventative maintenance occurs as per maintenance programs.
- Daily management and coordination of vessel maintenance items.
- Approval and processing of all purchase requisitions.
- Approve and review all repairs and maintenance invoices.
- Ensure the Management of Change process is adhered to.
- Ensure that records and documentation required under class are upto-date and complete.
- Arranging vessel surveys in a timely manner and ensuring conditions of class closed.
- Ensuring ISM audits are carried out in accordance with audit schedule and ensuring findings / nonconformances properly managed, are well communicated and are closed within the specified periods as required by regulators.
- Consult with DPA with regards to any Regulatory issues on board ship and with relation to any NCRs received by vessel from Regulators.
- Liaison with CSO for security audits and compliance.
- Ensure Docking Specifications are prepared in advance.
- Ensure adequate MMVO representation during dry docking.
- Ensure Fleet Operations General Manager – Australasia Vessel Operations is kept informed of drydocking process of vessels.
- Ensure docking costs are agreed with docking yard at completion and closed out with accounts.
- Assist Fleet Operations General Manager – Australasia Vessel Operations in the formulation of Repairs and Maintenance Budgets and Capital Budgets.
- Reporting budget status to Fleet Operations General Manager – Australasia Vessel Operations on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and action CAPEX requests in accordance with budgets.
- Coach and develop leadership capabilities on assigned assets including performance contract management.
- Provide advice and support for all seagoing personnel.
- Liaison with contractors and local client representatives.
- Participate with Fleet Operations General Manager – Australasia Vessel Operations and Human Resources on manning issues relating to vessels.
- Contribute to the development and ongoing management of a reliable 12month business plan to optimise the value of vessel assets, including resource allocation, statutory compliance, and maintenance schedules.
- Management of operational and capital expenditure.
- Timely and accurate budget forecasting to ensure resources are provided for.
- Smooth transition of assets into and out of company entities.
- Timely and effective identification, notification and management of risk.
- Timely reporting and close out of HSEQ and operational matters
- Ensuring Masters and Chief Engineers are fully aware of client requirements.
- Fully conversant with the operational commitments of the vessel charter parties under management.
- Effective timing of maintenance overhaul periods to not adversely affect client service where possible.
- Preparation of information in collaboration with Chartering desk to provide quality monthly reporting to client’s requirements.
- Client IMCA/OVID or other audits are closely managed and closed out in a timely manner.
- Prepare and plan major overhaul and docking speciation’s well in advance to minimize ad hoc management during overhauls.
- Create and implement and in collaboration with the Chartering desk a rolling 6month high level maintenance plan and schedule.
- Identification and management of critical vessel systems.
- Annual review of critical systems and spares.
- Ensure positive changes to maintenance systems are shared through the entire fleet where applicable.
- Ensure full commitment and implementation of Target 365 (T365).
- Ensuring full implementation of HSESQ systems.
- Ensuring HSES and T365 targets and required behaviours are understood by all team members.
- Identification, design, and implementation of opportunities to improve performance.
- Personally exhibit an uncompromising stand on safety risk tolerance and management.
- Fully understand the regulatory requirements of own role.
- Understanding the impact of own behaviours and proactively shape to align with T365.
- Ensure vessels are well prepared for HSEQ and client audits.
- Regular frontline engagement keeping vessel crew informed of changes.
- Treat team members justly and fairly.
- Provide ongoing personal effectiveness appraisal and coaching.
- Set clear and effective work contexts consistently.
- Allocate tasks effectively to ensure individual, departmental and site work is adequately resourced.

- Relevant Maritime qualifications
- Technical engineering and maritime training courses
- Relevant leadership training
- Relevant experience in a similar role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Excel.
- Demonstrable analytical capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional planning and organisational skills.
