Reporting to the Director of the Cultural Reform Team, Strategy and Policy Branch, you will be part of a team that is responsible for leading and working in partnership across the health sector to develop policy, project management as well as planning in regard to an evidence-based investment in services, aimed at improving the health outcomes for First Nations people in Queensland.

This role will require innovative thinking in its approach to eliminating institutional racism and racial discrimination within the health systemand in driving health equity for First Nations people in Queensland.

The successful person

You will have demonstrated:

  • Demonstrated understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting First Nations people and subsequent health impacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with First Nations people and organisations.
  • Capacity to undertake and lead required tasks and projects, including the co-ordination of input from other parties, with limited supervision and be responsible for meeting agreed timeframes.Represent the Department on committees and working groups to advance First Nations health issues.
  • Collaborate with other departmental areas for a unified response to improve health outcomes for First Nations people.
