As the Area Manager - Technical BHP SA Copper, you will support the business by providing focused aftermarket support for all Weir equipment to ensure strong spare parts and service business performance.
A key responsibility lies with the development and maintenance of technical relationships and trust that drives brand stack and aftermarket sales strategies, plans and tactics. These relationships are created and nurtured through face-to-face contact, fostering trust, reliability and strength through knowledge of the Weir Group products and services. In addition to this, you will pride your ability to analyse and determine the most crucial needs of key customers and engage all necessary WMA Product Managers and Service Specialists to provide outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a portfolio of continuous improvement trials that lower the customer's total ownership costs (TOC) and achieves the targets of the performance-based agreement with the customer.
- Troubleshooting equipment and service problems through use of Weir product knowledge, engineering skills and root cause analysis to provide solutions.
- Regular detailed measurement of TOC whereby reporting of current TOC, improvement and savings is a routine activity,
- Track and report market share and opportunity GAP analysis focusing on closing the gap.
- Maintain technical knowledge of customer process to allow the development and improvement of customer operations specifically for aftermarket performance.
- Complete brand stack and aftermarket inspections and provide recommendations to both the business and customer on how to improve overall system performance, cost, cost base and long-term competitiveness.
- Support the overall wider brand stack and aftermarket growth strategy by supporting the region's customers and peers as required.
- Report weekly on past and planned activities and provide details of significant market issues (customer and competitor).
- In collaboration with the Sales Manager and Key Account Manager, develop and execute the market growth strategy for the aftermarket business.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for aftermarket to ensure accuracy of phasing and margin.
- Prepare call reports following each customer visit.
- Ensures customers receive first-class customer care and service as measured via the Weir Customer Survey Program.
- Support WMAL Product Specialists through joint sales calls.
- Train key customer personnel in the application and operation of company products.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of industry processes, competitors and commercial influences.
- Prepare and maintain accurate customer business records and CRM tools.
- Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably Process or Mechanical Engineering.
- 2-5 years relevant industry experience in a similar role.
- Sound industrial experience with a sound technical aptitude.
- Prior experience with Weir Products would be highly advantageous.
- Hold a current manual driver's license.
