About You

As a Children Services, Team Leader, you will: 

  • work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in the effective delivery of support services to Westhaven Children and Young People (CYP) with a range of complex needs
  • partner with children and young people (CYP) diagnosed with a disability and/or complex behaviour needs to achieve their goals and to live life the way they choose
  • be responsible for ensuring the children and young people you support are receiving a high level of quality care with dignity and respect from a team of support workers you will lead, mentor and supervise

You will have:

  • A Diploma in Community Services, Children’s Services or similar field; or identify as Aboriginal and be willing to work towards a relevant qualification
  • Knowledge and understanding of positive behaviour support practices / plans
  • A proactive approach to supporting individuals with disability
  • Proficient computer skills including the use of Client Management Databases and Google Suite (or similar)
  • Highly developed organisational skills and capacity to prioritise competing demands
  • Effective conflict resolution skills, negotiation, mediation and decision-making skills paired with exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to confidently apply de-escalation strategies in high conflict situations
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, behaviours of concern and mental health concerns
  • Experience working with people with a disability, highly regarded
  • Experience working with children or youth in a care or education setting, highly regarded
