About the Workplace Relations Reform Branch

The Workplace Relations Reform Branch works collaboratively to deliver the Australian Government’s workplace relations policies and support agencies in their workplace responsibilities. 

The Workplace Relations Reform Branch undertakes policy development, implementation and advice on workplace relations matters related to Commonwealth public sector employment, including enterprise bargaining, remuneration and conditions of employment.

The Workplace Relations Reform Branch also supports implementation of the APS service wide bargaining outcomes. There are four policy teams within the Workplace Relations Reform Branch.

About the Role

We are looking to fill several Assistant Director (EL1) roles across the Workplace Relations Reform Branch. Successful applicants can expect to:

  • Be at the centre of developing policy and providing advice on bargaining, pay and conditions for Commonwealth public sector employees.
  • Build professional networks through engagement and collaboration with workplace relations and human resources professionals, and senior leaders from across the Commonwealth public sector.
  • Directly contribute to the Commonwealth’s role as a model employer, employer of choice and ultimately, the sustainable delivery of Government services to the Australian community.

Critical to your success will be your ability to provide high-level advice on a range of employment matters and application of workplace relations policies.

You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, high-level analytical skills, sound judgement and a keen willingness to learn.

We are looking for workplace relations, human resources, workforce planning, legal, policy or data professionals who will drive our culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across the Commonwealth public sector.

As an Assistant Director, you will lead and manage a small team in the delivery of operational and strategic workplace relations advice to Commonwealth departments and agencies. You will champion contemporary best practice in workplace relations and be adept at identifying and addressing workplace relations risks.
