**FermX** develops alternative proteins and food ingredients from CO2-derived raw materials without the use of animals, plants, chemicals, and agricultural resources. FermX is looking for a Chief Administrative Officer to join our small but growing R&D company in Vienna, Austria.

Tasks
**The Chief Administrative Officer** works closely with the CEO and ensures that the company’s operations run efficiently and smoothly. The responsibilities span a wide range of tasks and depend on the needs of our organization at a particular time. General duties and responsibilities will include:

- Working with the CEO to plan and implement best operational practices across the organization. Proactively prioritize operational and business issues that need attention, provide required information to facilitate efficient decision making and participate in the implementation
- Ensuring a safe, effective work environment and smooth-running operation
- Onboarding new employees. Building and maintaining key relationships within the company and with our external partners. Providing personnel with information, recommendations, and consultation to improve processes and teamwork. Facilitate the flow of information. Gathering insight and updates on various company-wide priorities and progression.
- Interfacing with the accountants on all matters incl. financial statements, supporting budget planning. Payments of salaries and bills.
- Interacting with other service providers including landlord, vendors, universities, legal and IP advisors, as well as corporate partners
- Utilizing and supporting IT solutions including project and lab management software to keep teams on track towards their goals. Monitor and communicate progress.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the company website and media presence.
- Supporting the preparation of progress reports, presentations, grants, and fundraising.
- Contributing to special strategic projects as needed.

**Requirements**:
**Key Attributes**
5+ years business and administrative experience in a R&D based organization and managing a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Proven ability to develop and lead the implementation of operational plans to a successful outcome across an R&D organization with dispersed management and sites. Ability to work in a flexible manner in line with the objectives and willingness to undertake a broad range of duties as reasonably requested.

Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills in English (with German a plus).

Well-developed interpersonal skills with a dedication to excellence and mentorship. Ability to earn trust and cooperation to drive open items to an effective resolution.

Lead by example with enthusiasm and positive energy through the ambiguities of an evolving startup operation. Ability to work a flexible schedule as necessary and adapt well to changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.

Think and act creatively, championing and promoting the company’s ideals, as well as new ideas that contribute to the goals of the organization. Manage various activities at once.

Strong financial, planning and project management skills.
