At our Themis legacy site in Vienna, MSD is developing recombinant measles virus strains as heterologous vaccine carries and for cancer immunotherapies.

Process Expert - Virus Purification (M/F/d)
- **

**Goal of the function**:

- Process Expert in the field of Downstream Bioprocessing
- Planning, supervision/practical execution and evaluation of Process Development activities
- Support of external GMP production at various CMOs

**Tasks**
- Design and oversight of process development experiments
- Optimization of process parameters for the production of viral vaccines based on Themis measles vector platform
- Characterization of production process
- Generation of non-GMP virus material to support further development activities- Execution of experiments and daily organizational tasks of running a lab
- Hands-on lab work in bioprocessing facility as needed
- Writing experimental plans & technical reports
- Communication of results within the team and across other functions
- Supporting technology transfer and scale-up activities for processes, as well as providing support to manufacturing.
- Transfer of processes to CMOs for GMP production
- Supporting CMOs with their production campaigns
- Participation in regular meetings
- Willingness to limited weekend duties required

**Qualifications & Experience**

**Education**:

- Academic degree in life sciences or equivalent (e.g. Biology, Biotechnology, or comparable field)
- PhD degree desirable

Work Experience:

- In depth experience with purification processes for the production of viral vaccines. Knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing principles.
- Experience in the GMP environment favorable.

Functional Requirements:

- Planning, Supervision, Evaluation and Reporting of different projects
- Regular coordination with Project team
- Supporting CMOs with their production campaigns on-site and via remote
