The Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies (CMC) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences

(OeAW) and the University of Klagenfurt is offering a

**POSTDOC POSITION (F/M/X)**
(part-time, 10h per week)

in the Horizon Europe Project “Fostering capacity building for civic resilience and participation: Dialogic

communication ethics and accountability” (DIACOMET), managed by the research Group “Media

Accountability and Media Change (MAMC), starting on **January 1, 2025**. The project aims to generate a concept

of dialogic communication ethics, which would provide a framework for an inclusive model of accountability

mechanisms that combine media accountability (the level of organizations) with civic accountability (the level of

citizens). DIACOMET proposes to establish a European network of civic accountability bodies for supporting

individuals, groups and organizations to implement a set of Principles of Good Communication Conduct, and

to assist in managing ethical issues emerging in public communication.

**Your tasks**:
We are looking for a researcher willing to support the empirical research and the dissemination activities within

the DIACOMET project, particularly through qualitative data analysis and the development of policy

recommendations. The position entails contributions to conference presentations as well as publications in

international scientific journals.

**Your profile**:

- PhD in communication science or a closely related field
- Experience in research into media accountability and media law
- Very good knowledge of European media policies
- Project management skills
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to cooperate and to work team-oriented

We offer an employment contract (25%) for a maximum of one and a half years (i.e. the end of the current Horizon

project, May 31st 2026).

The annual gross annual salary is a minimum of € 16.625,25 according to the collective agreement of the Austrian

Academy of Sciences. The contract may be extended if further third-party funding is obtained.
