Your future position is at the Department of Political Science in the research area of Politics and Gender. The Department of Political Science researches and teaches in all core areas of political science, develops innovative and problem-oriented research foci, and offers a wide range of specialization options for students. The Department’s staff investigates the changing forms and functions of governance, the state, is unified by a critical approach to politics, and analyzes politics in diverse geographic regions and political spaces.
**Your personal sphere of influence**:
In the research area of Politics and Gender we are devoted to the qualitative empirical study of politics and gender, especially by deploying qualitative research methods, in combination with cutting-edge theories of gender and sexuality to study pressing questions of equality, the state, democracy, populism, the far right, and imagining new futures. You will have the opportunity to work alongside award-winning academic staff at one of the most high-profile departments of critical political science in Europe. The department offers you outstanding research projects, interdisciplinary cooperation, collegial exchange, and exchange with a young generation of students.
The position is limited to 6 years and is planned to be filled from 01.09.2024.
**Your future tasks**:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You build up an independent research profile in the field of Politics and Gender.
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of Politics and Gender, which complement the specializations of the Professor of Politics and Gender, Prof. Dr. Dorit Geva.
- You publish internationally, give lectures, and participate in international academic conferences.
- You prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You supervise student theses, especially those specializing in Politics and Gender.
- You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
- You will assist in organizing lectures, workshops, and an annual conference for Politics and Gender.
- You will collaborate closely with the Professor of Politics and Gender for fostering a vibrant research area in the department and in the discipline at large
**This is part of your personality**:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Political Science, or a closely related field such as Sociology
- Outstanding dissertation from a top-ranked department
- You are well-organized, strong in keeping in track of tasks, and in completing tasks
- Research competence and initiative proven through international publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in research management and in leading project staff
- Didactic skills and experience in e-learning
- Excellent knowledge of English (C1)
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work in a team
Desirable are:
- Experience in teaching courses related to Politics and Gender is a plus
- Ability to teach in both German and English is a plus
- Proven expertise in any of the following research areas is a plus, particularly in relation to Politics and Gender: Theories of the State, Populism, the Far Right, Neoliberalism, Political Ethnography, Comparative and Historical Methods, Qualitative Methods
