**Role purpose**
The role reports to the Vice President Commercial Team Europe dealing with commercial matters arising in the geographical area of the whole DACH region
Geographical focus will be predominantly on matters in DACH, but also in other jurisdictions as it may be required, especially in Eastern Europe or any other Colt country as it may be required.
To provide legal support to the business focusing on commercial transactions or matters, including customer contracts, supplier contracts and litigation.
**Key accountabilities**
- Providing excellent quality legal support in all kinds of commercial matters, so all sorts of customer and/or supplier related issues,
- Providing direct transactional support to internal customers on small to large sales and supply transactions mainly in the DACH, but also in other jurisdictions as may be required,
- Ensuring that legal risk is minimised and Colt assets are protected
- Adhering to best practice, both legally and commercially and complying with Colt’s policies; and
- Establishing good working relationships with internal and external customers and colleagues to promote openness and trust
**Role specific requirements**
**Skills & Experience**
- Experience in drafting and negotiating pricing and operation-related provisions and awareness of the impacts of operational and contractual issues on a deal pricing and on the risk profile of a deal, and
- Experience in dealing with pre-litigation matters.
- Strong commercial capability and awareness with a focus on delivering solutions;
- Experience of dealing with pre-litigation matters;
- Ability to manage competing priorities and a varied workload; including when working on cross-border transactions;
- Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly;
- Some knowledge about wayleaves, rights of way and access to buildings is an advantage, and
- Knowledge in IT/telecommunications law is an advantage.
- Robust, dynamic self-starter with imagination, solution orientation and pragmatism;
- Someone who is good with people;
- Keen to learn new things, develop skills and grow in a really international context; and a team player.
**Skills & qualifications**
- A Law degree from a university in Austria or Germany; a professional legal qualification (e.g. holds a practising certificate) is an advantage;
- A lawyer with a strong academic background, legal knowledge and drafting skills in German and English language;
- An ability to work and draft contracts in any other additional European language (e.g. French, Eastern European language) would be an advantage;
- Ability to manage competing priorities and a varied workload, including when working on cross-border transactions;
- Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly;
- Someone with excellent communication skills who can deliver difficult messages in a positive way and a team player;
- Capable of supporting colleagues and working in cross-departmental teams;
- Ability and willingness to travel when a transaction requires it (not very frequently);
- Willingness to be flexible to get the work done and ability to plan and manage time effectively;
- Communicates with colleagues from other teams and other geographies regularly to share ideas and take input - uses input to improve team’s working methods and output;
- Showing curiosity and ambition with the intention to achieve constant improvement; and
- Identifies areas where team’s activities duplicate or conflict with other teams; working resolve conflicts or remove duplication in a way that creates maximum benefit for the business.
