The divisions Data and Data2Business together provide data, reporting and analytics solutions to steer and grow Erste Group. The data science team provides our business partners with consulting services in data-driven projects where learning from data and getting added value from data-derived insights has a significant part. To reinforce this team, we are looking for a Professional Data Scientist.

As a Data Scientist, you closely collaborate with colleagues from business and IT to design data-driven solutions that will help improve our company. We will rely on you to build machine learning (ML) models or other solutions to identify patterns in our data and extract valuable business insights. In this role, you should be highly analytical with a knack for math and statistics. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data. We also want to see a passion for modeling and algorithms.

Your Tasks
Create prototypes for data science and ML related tasks in data driven projects and accompany them from the pilot stage to production-ready ML services
Discover insights from data of different business units in our enterprise
Understand and derive the impact of simple and complex tasks on the business side and deliver them independently
You show genuine curiosity and thinking about innovative problem solutions
Work together with our business partners and data scientists following agile principles
Deliver and support in all phases of the full Data Science process with respect to different levels of expectations and project requirements like business understanding, analytic approach, data requirements and collection, data understanding, modelling and algorithms, evaluation and interpretation, deployment and solution development support, and monitoring and tuning support
Your Background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a focus on quantitative disciplines
Good understanding of statistical methods and common ML algorithms
Expertise in a data analytics and visualization tool (e.g., Python, R, KNIME)
Practical experience in applied ML (e.g., NLP, deep learning, etc.)
Basic knowledge of Big Data ecosystem components (e.g. SQOOP, HIVE, IMPALA, KAFKA, SPARK, SPARK Streaming etc.)
Basic knowledge of modern cloud technology (e.g. Azure)
Experience with git and Jira
Basic understanding of the banking business
Business Fluent English. Working knowledge of German or another CEE language is an advantage
