Join our innovative R&D team as a Junior Scientist specializing in Cell Biology within the field of Animal Nutrition & Health, with a specific focus on Host-Microbiome Interaction. In this role, you will contribute to cutting-edge research on the structure and functionality of the animal gastrointestinal tract, employing a range of cell-based assays. Your expertise in techniques such as cell culture as well as immunoassays will be crucial, and experience with 3D and organoid-based assays is highly valued.

You will be an integral part of our efforts to explore host-microbiome interactions through sophisticated in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo studies.

**Your key responsibilities**
- Independently perform routine and advanced cell culture techniques (2D, 3D), including primary cell isolation, maintenance, and differentiation
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments related to cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemical assays with regular quality control checks
- Stay updated on latest research on cell based technologies
- Support the whole team in regular labwork, including sample processing in animal trials.
- Effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely written technical reports
- Communicate & collaborate with other cross-functional teams as well as external partners to support research initiatives

- Type of employment: Full time for 38,5 hours / week, unlimited contract

**You bring**
- Master's or Bachelor’s degree in natural science/life science or related disciplines or equivalent education with a solid experience in cell biology (sterile work, cell cultivation,...) and ideally also immunobiology.
- Willingness to visit slaughterhouses and participate in feeding trials, ensuring to collect tissue samples necessary for your experiments.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transport of biological samples to the lab.
- Collaborate closely with team members to integrate field-collected data with lab-based research.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) and a collaborative mindset for working with diverse teams
- High motivation to learn new skills & to think creatively supporting strong problem-solving abilities
