The Max Perutz Labs are entering an exciting period of growth and renewal, so that senior, tenured position provides an opportunity to shape and develop the research area in Infection and Immunity, and to integrate it further with Vienna’s wider immunology community. For this post, we define immunology to include mechanistic research into any area of adaptive or innate immunity, host-pathogen interactions, and related fields.

You have established a successful independent track record and may already be an international leader, or on the trajectory to becoming one. You should have an excellent publication record, have acquired significant third-party research funding, and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching. In particular, you are expected to play an active role in shaping the future of the existing Master programs in “Molecular Precision Medicine” and “Molecular Microbiology, Microbial Ecology and Immunobiology”.
- Doctoral degree/PhD and post-doctoral experience at a university or other research institution
- Outstanding achievements in research, excellent publication record, international reputation
- Experience in designing, procuring and managing large research projects, as well as the willingness and ability to lead research groups
- Enthusiasm for excellent teaching, teaching experience at universities as well as the ability and willingness to teach students in all phases of their studies (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level), to supervise academic theses and to promoting young academic colleagues
