- The process of sugar production includes thickening of thin juice to obtain thick juice for crystallization. Currently, thin juice is concentrated by water evaporation, an energy intensive process that requires fossil fuels for heating.
- Membrane technology is a promising option to move away from fossil fuels by electrifying the process and reduction of the total energy demand.
- In this master thesis, membrane technology will be tested on a pilot scale in the factory Tulln. Membrane filtration will be evaluated for fouling and scaling during beet processing campaign in autumn and winter 2023. You will work in a team with motivated researchers in an international industry environment and gather experience by testing this promising future technology in practice.
- The thesis can be written in German or English language.

Your profile:

- Currently studying in a master programm of sciences (food technology, chemistry or similar)
- Hands-on-mentality and solution-oriented approach required
