The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for **Secretariat General (SG) - Group Strategy Department (GS) - External Offices Unit (EO)**, **at its EIB Group Office in Vienna, Austria**:TRAINEE**

**_ Duration: 5 months (fixed_**_ start date: 01_**_st_**_ March/April 2024)_**

**Objective of the traineeship**:
During the traineeship you will report to the Head of Office and work closely with the Office Manager and the Head of Office (HoO). You will have exposure to EIBG staff in Vienna, to key departments in Luxembourg, notably GLO/OPS/EIF, will exchange experience with EIBG colleagues in other European offices and will also become an EIBG face to the external world. He/she will establish and maintain contacts to key stakeholders, notably relevant ministries, chamber of commerce, international organizations domiciled in Vienna.

Working closely with the Office Manager and the HoO will allow you to understand quickly EIBG's activities and how an external office can contribute to the overall Banking group's performance, visibility and recognition.

Thus, the objective of the traineeship is to develop a good understand of the EIBG, its business model and context by contributing to specific tasks as outlined in more detail above, but notably in the field of research, preliminary compliance assessment, adding to briefings, monthly reports, follow up on business opportunities and to propose concrete procedures for certain tasks prior to your departure.

**Responsibilities**:
Your main tasks will be:

- Support HoO with customer/business requests; initial screening of business opportunities and proposals, participate in meetings, draft meeting minutes, perform initial AML/CFT - compliance screening. Follow up on opportunities internally (OPS/GLO/EIF); You will propose draft procedure to cover this process before departure.
- Assist in the organization of European Breakfasts; including maintaining an active attendance list, produce minutes and ensure follow up and propose draft procedures
- Preparation of Austria's input to ECOFIN
- Maintain a depository of relevant Austrian news, including national progress in relevant EU programs support ho HoO in preparation of presentations and speeches
- Assist in the annual review of processes and procedures.

**Academic qualifications and professional skills**:

- Final year of studies or University degree preferably a BA in Economics or Engineering;
- Fluency in English. Good knowledge of German would be an advantage;
- Comprehensive writing skills in English (German desired);
- Literacy in standard IT tools;
- Good understanding of European institutions is an advantage.
