**The position**:
The Faculty of History and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna offers a Post Doc position at the Chair of Contemporary History (specialising in the history of genocide, violence and dictatorship).

Successful applicants have a focus on the history of National Socialism and the Holocaust and its aftermath in a European and global context, or have a focus on migration history related to the Holocaust, or on provenance research related to Holocaust assets.

**Job description**:

- You develop research projects and academic studies in the field of migration or exile research, provenance research or contemporary legal history.
- You will build up your independent research profile in the field of forced migration and exile research, provenance research or historical legal history/war crimes trials and restitution proceedings after 1945 in a global context (Europe and Asia).
- You will prepare a habilitation (please summarize topic), or prepare an already finished manuscript for publication.
- You will participate in the institute’s research focus "Dictatorships, Violence, Genocide" and, if applicable, in other research focuses of the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies.
- Active participation in University boards.

**Your academic profile**:

- Doctorate/PhD and habilitation project, international publication and lecture activity
- Outstanding research achievements, international networking
- Experience in the conception of and participation in research projects and in the acquisition of third-party funding, for example to establish a research focus on provenance research, or to continue the existing focus on forced migration and exile research, or on historical legal history/war crimes trials and restitution proceedings after 1945 in a global context (Europe and Asia)
- Enthusiasm for excellent teaching (4 semester hours per week)
