About the role
The Specialist - Response Workforce is responsible for leading the development and engagement of the emergency response volunteer workforce in their respective state or territory. As a part of the Emergency Response and Operations team, you will ensure that local response workforce is adequately trained, prepared, and equipped to respond to various emergency scenarios. The Specialist will support the coordination of development, training and engagement activities, conduct readiness assessments, and foster a culture of collaboration and commitment among the local workforce.
Day to Day you will
- Coordinate and support comprehensive engagement activities for emergency response workforce members within the state or territory.
- Facilitate initial training, ongoing education, and specialised skill development tailored to local needs.
- Foster a culture of readiness and commitment among the local workforce through regular exercises, workshops, and engagement activities.
- Develop and implement strategies to maintain high levels of motivation and preparedness among the emergency response workforce.
- Conduct regular assessments to evaluate the preparedness of the local workforce and identify areas for strengthening.

What you will bring
- Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and expertise in volunteer enegagement, incident management, emergency response, community engagement, or related fields
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce in a state or territory-specific context.
- High level of knowledge and skills in assessing capability needs and workforce readiness, and in developing effective engagement solutions.
- Flexibility to adjust to meet evolving local needs and emerging challenges.
- Strong organisational and planning abilities. Ability to set priorities, plan and organise their own work and that of lower classified staff and/or volunteers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
