Molecular Biology Lab Support (M/F/x)

**Location**: Campus of ISTA Austria, Klosterneuburg until 02/2024, then Vienna Biocenter, St. Marx, Vienna

**Start date**: as soon as possible

**Job Type**: Part-time (10 -20 hours / week)

As a Lab Support role in our lab you will support our company by making sure our lab runs smoothly and efficiently by preparing, supplying and organizing consumables, buffers and general working materials.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Buffer and Media Preparation**:Prepare and sterilize laboratory reagents, buffers, and media required for various experiments and analyses. Ensure the accuracy and quality of the prepared solutions.
- **Consumables Management**:Maintain an up-to-date inventory of consumables and reagents used in the lab. Regularly check stock levels and coordinate with the lab manager to order supplies as needed.
- **Routine DNA Cloning Tasks**:Assist researchers in routine DNA cloning tasks, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, restriction enzyme digestion, and DNA ligation. Ensure compliance with established protocols and best laboratory practices.
- **Lab Organization**:Keep the laboratory space tidy, organized, and ready for experiments. Properly label and store chemicals, solutions, and laboratory equipment.
- **Equipment Maintenance**:Collaborate with the lab team to ensure proper maintenance and calibration of lab equipment. Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the lab manager.
- **Waste Management**: Adhere to proper waste disposal procedures and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with laboratory safety regulations.
- **Documentation**:Accurately record experimental procedures, results, and observations. Maintain detailed and well-organized lab notebooks.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding and theoretical knowledge of Molecular Biology techniques, DNA cloning, and PCR.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting, either through coursework, internships, or research projects, is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning and growth.
- Good command of the English language

We are obligated by law to state a minimum salary of 1.763,83 EUR gross monthly based on a full time (40 hours) contract in agreement with the collective contracts but are of offering possible overcompensation according to industry standards.
