**Your personal sphere of influence**:
The DSHCS offers seven 6-months Completion Contracts for fellows of the DSHCS who have held a position as University Assistant (predoc) or a PhD position at the University of Vienna before. These Completion Contracts aim to support highly qualified fellows in the final phase of their doctoral studies. Recipients will be employed as University Assistants (predoc) and will work at one of the 16 Departments of the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies.
**Your future tasks**:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- Your main task is to complete and to submit your dissertation.
- You meet and consult with your supervisor(s) on a regular basis in order to priorities your tasks and to get the necessary support to complete your dissertation successfully in time.
- You participate in your department's and the DSHCS' activities and workshops.
- You participate in conferences and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
- You actively seek support (workshops, training, coaching etc.) if necessary.

**General expectations**:
- Above-average MA or equivalent in a field of study relevant for the respective position
- Excellent academic and study record (e.g. FÖP within one year, annual submission of progress reports; outstanding publication record etc.)
- High level of motivation and commitment to successfully complete your doctoral studies within the anticipated time frame
- Collaborative, team-minded and pro-active attitude
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Experience with the structures of the University of Vienna.
**The DSHCS seeks to fill seven positions in different fields which require the following specializations and skills**:
1. Completion Contract in Ancient History
- Your dissertation deals with gender aspects of Roman epigraphy.
- You are familiar with the database work of the MAPPOLA project.
- You have excellent knowledge of Latin, ancient Greek, and modern languages (English, German, French etc.) and excellent training in all aspects of practical and digital epigraphy.
2. Completion Contract in Prehistory and Historical Archaeology
- Your dissertation deals with the aspect of space in National Socialist forced camps in Austria and employs digital viewshed analysis and 3D modelling.
- You have an excellent training in geoinformation software (ArcGISPro), image-based modelling (Agisoft Metashape), computer-generted architecture (Agisoft Metashape) and technical drawing editors (AutoCAD)
- You have a master's degree in history AND in prehistory and historical archaeology.
3. Completion Contract in Contemporary History
- Your dissertation deals with gender aspects of transnational pacifism during the interwar years with a focus on the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
- You have completed archival work in Austria, Great Britain, and the United States of America.
- You have excellent knowledge of German, English and at least one other modern language.
4. Completion Contract in Medieval History
- Your dissertation deals with social cohesion and multi-layered entanglements of urban elites in Lower Austria in the Late Middle Ages.
- You have experience in using GIS software and network analysis software, especially for historical research.
- You have a master's degree in history AND in auxiliary sciences and archival studies.
5. Completion Contract in Economic and Social History
- Your dissertation deals with transnational spaces of negotiation in the Global South in the 1950s and 1960s with a focus on Afro-Asianism and Pan-Africanism
- You have conducted archival work on the African continent.
- You have an MA in global history and excellent knowledge in related methods and theories (e.g. historical comparison, cross-border interaction, intercultural exchange, knowledge circulation).
