We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you. **What you’d be doing in this role** As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve. At the moment, this role is focused on: - Building efficient and reusable front end abstractions and systems - Working closely with stakeholders and designers to create world-class support experiences - Collaborating within and across teams to create wholistic solutions - Identifying and improving practices and methodologies for front end engineering - Finding opportunities for cross-team collaboration to work on new ideas and improvements - Empowering and mentoring other engineers You’ll be taking ownership of a domain that is rapidly growing in scale, that captures customer’s feedback, harnesses user research, create and share insights with teams across Canva and close the loop with users when their issues have been solved. You will also work closely with other team members building solutions that help users get back to designing quickly by self solving their issues and, if needed, handing then over to support agents smoothly. You will get hands-on experience writing reusable code and technical documentation to build intuitive user and staff facing experiences. You will lead and contribute to projects, discover opportunities and drive experiments. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who knows how to both communicate well and design systems and components that balance simplicity and flexibility. **You're probably a match if** - You're at home working in our core technology environment - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, MobX (or other state management libraries) and back end technology (e.g. Node or Java) - You have the ability to write performant, reusable code for UI components, including appropriate testing - You enjoy working collaboratively with team members, communicating effectively, and taking ownership of projects and outcomes - You’ve perfected the balance between big-picture thinking and nailing the details - You're excited by the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing and critical function of Canva and connect with improving the help experience for millions of people around the world
