The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team, based in our Melbourne Office. You will play a key advisory role in all aspects of our legal and commercial requirements for the AU business. This role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced legal counsel to join a growing team with a strong pipeline of large opportunities across varied energy retailers. With Australia identified as a key market for Gentrack, you will help to enable winning of new business, exploring new avenues of activity and seeking opportunities that the company can uncover in its bid to develop and grow. You will also provide guidance and fulfilment in ensuring that the company adheres to regulatory and compliance requirements as needed within the industries we serve and will be responsible for identifying and driving to completion areas for continued improvement within the business. **The Specifics** - You will take a leading role working alongside other members of the sales and leadership team in all aspects of the bid response process and contract negotiation. This will be primarily supporting our Australia business; however you may also assist our New Zealand and Singapore entities from time to time. - Work with Professional Services teams to put together realistic and achievable Statements of Work outlining what deliverables can be achieved with the price negotiated such as Timeframes; Costings; Key Milestones; Cash Flow) etc. - Ensure close response and contract alignment with Gentrack methodologies and risk policies. - Lead negotiation of the terms and conditions of contracts with customers, suppliers, vendors, contractors etc. - Contribute to our strategic initiatives, ensuing alignment with Gentrack Values and Vision. - Work alongside Senior Legal Leadership to identify, plan and implement areas for continued improvement within the origination. For example establishing new precedent documents, Legal Policies like Modern Slavery, training for staff etc. - Work alongside finance teams to analyse and negotiate all commercials relating to customer deals/ projects to ensure maximum profitability and that deals are future proof and not just fit for the current business context. - Work alongside and liaise with the Business Development and Sales teams to co-ordinate the compilation of successful bid responses to tenders, including providing direct support to customers where required with any issues that may arise from contracts - Ownership of sundry contracts such as lease agreements, NDAs, Supplier contracts, venue contracts, partnership agreements, subcontracts etc. This role will also take ownership of assigned internal compliance processes related to legal and regulatory requirements **What we're looking for **_(you don’t need to be a guru at all, we’re looking forward to coaching and collaborating with you):_ - Broad understanding of Australian contractual law - Software vendor experience - Experience in utility industry desirable - Strong leadership skills - High level of commercial acumen and Emotional Intelligence - Strong negotiating skills - Strong analytical ability - Solid track record in stakeholder management and building partnerships - A passion for excellence and a commitment to be the best. - High levels of energy, sound judgement and determination to achieve with a sense of urgency. - Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills. - An open-minded consultative approach. - Ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback. - Ability to creatively solve problems. - Attention to detail. - Self-starter and able to think on feet - Relevant tertiary education mandatory - Relevant Legal professional qualification highly desirable but not mandatory where relevant deep experience is evident **What we offer in return:** - Personal growth – in leadership, commercial acumen and technical excellence - To be part of a global, winning high growth organization – with a career path to match - A vibrant, culture full of people passionate about transformation and making a difference -with a one team, collaborative ethos - A competitive reward package that truly awards our top talent - A chance to make a true impact on society and the planet
