Research Engineer - Algorithm Development

At IMS Nanofabrication GmbH, we are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our team in developing cutting-edge software for our multi-beam mask writer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for researching and analyzing new approaches for data processing, developing and defining specifications for prototypes and products, and optimizing existing algorithms and parameters.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify new approaches for data processing and secure technology leadership for future tool generations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and define specifications for prototypes and products.
  • Develop physics-based models and simulations of the datapath of the multi-beam mask writer.
  • Optimize existing algorithms and parameters based on simulations to ensure continuous improvement of current tool generations.
Your Qualifications:
  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the related area.
  • Experience in developing models and simulations of physical systems.
  • Profound knowledge of Object-Oriented Python.
  • Experience with development in a Linux environment and familiarity with Python libraries and frameworks such as NumPy, SciPy, Pytest, Plotly, and Matplotlib.
  • Professional background in optimization and parameter identification or basic understanding of HPC strategies and methods.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Team player with strong organizational skills and the ability to drive projects independently.
