Position Overview

Location: Vienna, AT

As a vital member of the local management team, the Trade & Operations Manager for Austria & Switzerland (all genders) is tasked with implementing the strategic framework for our brands across various channels. This role involves translating both short-term and long-term trade strategies into actionable plans, ensuring effective execution in the Austrian and Swiss markets. The individual will be responsible for converting commercial outcomes from both regions into comprehensive Business and Operational Omni-channel strategies. They will set and meet key performance indicators (KPIs) while managing cross-category channel initiatives to fulfill operational requirements and ensure successful market execution.

The position requires the identification, alignment, and prioritization of new performance opportunities based on customer insights, market shifts, and overall performance across all categories. The Trade & Operations Manager will work closely with both markets and key stakeholders within the DACH cluster, agencies, and market functions to ensure strategic alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and lead an Omni-Channel Strategy and ensure effective coordination of touchpoints across all product categories for both markets. Assess and implement trade initiatives and channel operations in line with the business plan, strategic partnerships, and insights from other markets. Identify optimal routes to market, including distribution strategies, call frequencies, on-shelf availability, retail classifications, and core portfolio strategies, while establishing measurable KPIs for tracking and monitoring. Create, develop, and regularly review retail classifications across channels and categories for both Austria and Switzerland, taking responsibility for their implementation. Establish expertise in Category Management and analytics, supporting Key Account Management with assortment and placement decisions, and developing cross-category planograms and facing guidelines. Review and adapt existing trade concepts and develop new trade compensation strategies, including contract development, compliance checks, and ROI calculations for market implementation. Monitor channel strategies, trends, competitor activities, and evaluation tools, making necessary business adjustments based on analysis. Develop and implement strategic concepts for new category launches and growth initiatives based on identified market gaps. Optimize current field force territories based on capacity utilization and targets, advancing with global innovations where applicable. Oversee trade actions and track performance against established KPIs. Design and manage the production of store fixtures, tools, and trade & sales materials. Manage the booking of trade advertisements in both print and digital formats. Lead the planning and structuring of the sales cycle, including onboarding of the field force by summarizing relevant brand and trade topics for each cycle. Take ownership of the sales cycle review process, facilitating information sharing and ensuring lessons learned are integrated into future practices. Maintain an overarching view of Trade Consumer Insights and Trade Information/Education to ensure compliance with content standards. Manage strategies for improvement and innovation. Oversee and control trade budgets. Foster close stakeholder relationships with management colleagues and the sales force.

Required Skills and Experience

Degree in Sales & Marketing or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Sales & Trade marketing within Imperial Brands or other FMCG companies. Strong planning and project management capabilities. Understanding of Imperial Brands' strategy and its application within the cluster and market. Insight into category drivers, demand shifts, consumer needs, and pricing dynamics to identify strategic opportunities. Experience with CRM and other customer data sources. Proven ability to demonstrate knowledge and influence in senior management discussions. Capacity to validate plans based on customer needs and commercial delivery, ensuring maximum return on investment. Proficient in analyzing complex data sets and translating findings into actionable strategies. Fluent in both German and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Open-minded and adaptable personality.
