Job Overview

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Security Officer to join its team in Vienna, Austria. The successful candidate will have expertise in nuclear security, project management, and training design.

About the Role

This role involves providing technical assistance and support to Member States in developing effective capabilities to collect and process evidence in the presence of radioactivity. As a Nuclear Security Officer, you will work closely with international partners to enhance nuclear security systems and measures for preventing and responding to nuclear threats.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise and delivery of crime scene management content to Member States
  • Coordinate projects involving IAEA-wide efforts
  • Facilitate consultancy meetings and capacity building activities
  • Develop Nuclear Security Guidance documents
  • Promote use of published Nuclear Security Series Guidance
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Nuclear Security: Understanding of State nuclear security regimes
  • Management and Programme Analysis: Experience in project management
  • Material Out of Regulatory Control: In-depth knowledge of managing radiological crime scenes
  • Training: Expertise in training design, facilitation, and implementation

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related discipline and have at least five years' experience in nuclear security. Excellent English language skills are essential, with proficiency in other official IAEA languages an asset.

Benefits

As a member of the IAEA team, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive salary range of approximately €65,000 - €85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
