The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan seeks an experienced Economic Specialist to support the government's efforts in reducing the shadow economy. This consultancy aims to contribute to a favorable business environment and promote economic formalization.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Conducting in-depth analyses of the shadow economy, identifying key sectors and factors driving informal business activities;
- Developing incentive-based policy proposals to encourage business formalization and reduce informal economic activities;
- Drafting and reviewing legal and regulatory frameworks to combat money laundering, corruption, and terrorism financing;
- Designing and delivering capacity-building initiatives for government agencies and stakeholders;
- Providing expert advice on policy development, regulatory enforcement, and economic formalization strategies tailored to Uzbekistan's needs;
A successful candidate will possess advanced knowledge of economics, law, or public policy, with at least 6 years of professional experience in economic formalization, shadow economy reduction, or financial inclusion. Proven expertise in developing and implementing policies to promote business formalization is essential. Strong analytical and report-writing skills are also required.
The estimated salary for this position is $4,500 - $6,000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience. The consultancy will be based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The OSCE offers a dynamic and inclusive work environment, with opportunities for career growth and professional development.
Applicants should have a Master's degree in Economics, Law, or a related field, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with international best practices on tackling the shadow economy is highly desirable.
