As a research assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced team to investigate the thermal and erosion resistance of materials in battery applications.

This project aims to understand material behavior during thermal runaway or propagation events, which is critical for the safe operation of electric vehicles.

Our research will focus on various materials, including Aerogel Polyurethane, Silicone, and Glass Fiber mats, as well as metallic and polymeric coatings.

You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive tests and analyzing material responses to provide insights crucial for informed decision making in automotive design and engineering.

Additionally, you will create a 1D or 3D simulation model to predict material behavior during thermal and erosion abuse solely based on material properties.

The data acquired from the test series will be used to create a material map for simulation purposes and validation of the build 1D or 3D simulation model.

We offer a one-time fee of EUR 3,500 before tax for the successful completion of the thesis.

You will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts in the company and benefit from their expertise.

This research opportunity is ideal for students studying engineering, technical, or natural science fields.

Knowledge of battery technology is a plus, but not required.

You should have a high level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team and be fluent in English language skills, with German being beneficial.

Responsibilities:

  • Literature review of available scientific articles
  • Creation of a test matrix and standardize test specification
  • Set up experiments for the selected materials
  • Comparison of material properties
  • Cataloguing results and detail analysis of the test results
  • Build a 1D or 3D simulation model
