Position Overview

The Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt is seeking a highly qualified Senior Lecturer with Doctoral Qualifications to join our esteemed faculty. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting innovative research, and contributing to the university's academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach and mentor students at the Bachelor's and Master's levels, utilizing established and innovative methods to ensure engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Develop and deliver curriculum content, including introductory courses in Statistics for Mathematics students.
  • Supervise and guide students in their academic pursuits, including Bachelor's and Master's theses, in collaboration with industry partners.
  • Conduct autonomous scientific research, publishing articles in reputable journals, and actively participating in research activities and international conferences.
  • Participate in organizational and administrative tasks, quality assurance measures, public relations, and third-mission activities.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field from a recognized institution.
  • Proven didactic competence and extensive teaching experience at higher education institutions, utilizing established and innovative methods.
  • Experience in co-supervising academic theses and disseminating scientific results.
  • Strong programming skills, including proficiency in languages such as R, Julia, Python, Matlab, C/C++, and others.
  • Fluency in German and English.

  • Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm for imparting knowledge.
  • Experience with academic administrative duties, outreach activities, and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team and contribute to gender mainstreaming and diversity management.
