At ABB, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to lead our Software Development team. As a key member of our R&D organization, you will be responsible for developing and delivering multiple software components within our industrial automation software portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and architect a cohesive software and system ecosystem that integrates an IDE, a runtime environment for industrial real-time equipment, and a digital platform.
- Work closely with product teams to ensure seamless integration of all components, enhancing overall user experience and system performance.
- Define and enforce best practices in software architecture and design, firmware development, and system architecture to ensure non-functional requirements such as performance, security, scalability, and maintainability are achieved.
- Utilize scaled agile methodologies to facilitate collaborative and efficient team working environments, ensuring timely delivery of integrated solutions.
- Engage with stakeholders across different domains to gather and validate requirements, ensuring software ecosystem meets diverse needs.
- Lead technology decision-making processes within each product and across entire product portfolio, ensuring alignment with overarching business goals and technology standards.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 15-20 years of experience in software development, covering multiple areas such as front-end applications, cloud services, embedded software development, along with deep understanding of IDEs, runtime environments, and digital platforms.
- Progressive experience in leading smaller to larger teams (50+ people) and prior experience in managing first-level managers is mandatory.
- Proven ability in commercial software product leadership, especially for B2B customers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with ability to navigate complex technical challenges and make informed decisions.
- Well-respected people manager with strong inter-cultural skills, having proven capabilities in working with people in a global R&D setup.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and convincing stakeholders in a matrix organization.
- Experience with modern software development tools, languages, and frameworks, and with transforming teams to adopt such tools and methodologies.
