This role is available at either the Department of Economics (Quantitative Economics Division) or the Department of Networked and Embedded Systems (Smart Grids Group).
Employment Details:
- Employment Level: 100% (40 hours/week)
- Salary: EUR 50,103.20 per annum (gross); classified under collective agreement: B1
- Contract Duration: Limited to 4 years
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in an interdisciplinary research project titled “A Machine Learning Approach to Smart Electricity Load Management”, which merges expertise from both departments.
- Conduct independent research aimed at submitting a dissertation and obtaining a doctoral degree.
- Present scientific findings through publications and at academic conferences.
- Participate in teaching activities.
- Collaborate on administrative and organizational tasks.
- Contribute to public relations initiatives.
Qualifications Required:
- A diploma or master's degree in fields such as computer science, data science, economics, electrical engineering, information systems, information technology, mathematics, or statistics, with a strong formal background.
- A solid academic record.
- A keen interest in developing and applying algorithms for analyzing large and complex datasets, particularly in big data-based econometric impact and evaluation research.
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., Python or R).
- Excellent command of English (both written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in areas such as Econometrics, Machine Learning, Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring, or Time Series Analysis.
- Strong social and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
- High motivation and a results-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently on scientific projects with a focus on quality and precision.
- Skills in scientific dissemination, including publication in academic journals.
Our Offer:
This position is designed to support the vocational and academic training of graduates from diploma or master's degree programs, with the goal of completing a corresponding doctoral degree. The role is funded through the university's Ada Lovelace Programme, which promotes interdisciplinary research. The successful candidate will receive joint supervision from two academic professors, one specializing in computer engineering and the other in economics, and will be affiliated with one of the two departments.
