This prestigious position is part of the 'Department of Forest and Soil Sciences', which will transition into the new 'Department of Ecosystem Management, Climate and Biodiversity'. The focus will be on research and education concerning the analysis, modeling, and management of forest ecosystems, alongside soil utilization and conservation.

The Institute of Soil Science, where this professorship will be anchored, emphasizes research and teaching across various spatial dimensions, from molecular and microbial interactions to ecosystem dynamics and landscape-level processes. Key areas of interest include the interconnection between soil processes and ecosystem functions, soil development, resilience, and nutrient cycling, with particular attention to the impacts of climate change and land management practices.

Research Infrastructure

The Institute is equipped with advanced laboratories dedicated to soil microbiology, gas analysis, soil chemistry, soil physics, rhizosphere ecology, and stable isotope analysis. Fieldwork includes automated greenhouse gas measurements at multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in research and teaching centered on soil microbiology, emphasizing its role in food security, climate impact, soil biodiversity, and nutrient efficiency.
