About the Role

As the Engineering Manager of the Site Reliability team, you'll lead a high-performing team of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) responsible for ensuring the resilience and scalability of Sentry's products. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of our growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow and develop a team of talented SREs, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Set strategic direction for the team, anticipating scaling challenges and opportunities.
  • Participate in quarterly planning sessions to develop achievable milestones and deliverables.
  • Communicate technical outcomes to engineering, product, and design stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Sentry's cloud strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy and collaborative team culture that embodies our values.
  • Be part of the escalation path for on-call incidents, providing leadership and guidance when needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering, with a focus on cloud infrastructure and scalability.
  • 2+ years of people management experience, with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience working with distributed systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Proficiency with tools that manage systems, including Terraform, Kubernetes, Salt, and Envoy.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Bonus points for experience working with globally distributed teams.
  • Ability to relocate to the Vienna, Austria area or willingness to do so.
