Overview

As a Critical Environment Technician at Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation team, you will be responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure that supports our datacenters. This includes coordinating with vendors, identifying safe working environments, and performing various types of maintenance.

The role is part of the engine that powers our cloud services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. As a group, CO+I focuses on employee development and offers training opportunities such as Career Rotation Programs and professional certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for surveillance, scheduled service, and maintenance of critical environment infrastructure and equipment.
  • Oversee regular facility checks and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal guidelines.
  • Handle vendor relations, optimizing operational continuity, enhancing Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), and Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE).
  • Collaborate with external and internal parties, including Service Planning, Security, and third-party vendors.
  • Advocate Safety First at work, supporting Health and Safety at the workspace.
  • Proactively ensure safety and security requirements are followed and met for the work of themselves and others.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Vocational education in technical fields (electrician, HVAC technician).
  • Hands-on experience in an electrical or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in operating, maintaining, and repairing electrical/mechanical systems, including cooling and HVAC units.
  • Fundamental skills in managing subcontractor activities and vendor interactions.
  • Advanced English language proficiency; fluency in German is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in using computers, including Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Word, and specialized software tools relevant to the job.
  • Essential soft skills include ability to work shifts, including non-standard business hours, and physical requirements such as occasional climbing of ladders and prolonged standing.

Salary: Starting from €53,000 per annum, depending on experience.
