Our goal is to ensure a resilient and forward-thinking IT environment that consistently meets the evolving needs of our community.About the roleReporting to the Director – Business Partners & Security, the Head of Infrastructure and Cloud is responsible for leading development and maintenance of our IT infrastructure, growing cloud operations encompassing Azure cloud infrastructure, on-premises server and storage systems, Office 365 applications, and the broader Microsoft ecosystem. As our university expands its digital footprint, particularly within the Azure and Microsoft environments, this role will be critical in ensuring the robustness, security, and scalability of our cloud and on-premises infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in cloud technologies, security, infrastructure management, IT strategy, and seamless integration across the Microsoft ecosystem, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the expansion and management of the university's Azure cloud environment, ensuring optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency.Lead the migration of existing services and applications to Azure, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum benefit.Implement best practices for cloud governance, security, and compliance.Oversee the university's on-premises infrastructure, including servers, storage, and data centers.Manage the infrastructure and cloud budget, optimising costs while maintaining high service levels.Drive innovation within the infrastructure and cloud domains, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.Qualifications, skills & experienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent extensive experience in Information technology and/or business discipline.Demonstrated understanding of contemporary Cloud Technologies and experience with associated operational practices such as cost management, monitoring, release management and automation.Demonstrated experience working with cloud-based load balancer technologies to perform IT traffic management, security and related support services.Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft cloud ecosystem, including Azure, Power BI, Power Apps, and Microsoft 365, with a focus on creating integrated solutions that meet complex business needs.How to applyPlease apply online with a resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.To expedite the process, we will begin shortlisting and conducting interviews prior to the close of the advertisement.
