The Position The Senior Telecommunications Specialist is a permanent position, located in any major centre (Queensland) and is accountable to the Principal Engineer Telco & Digital.
This is a Professional & Managerial Grade Two level position with salaries starting from $171k + 14.75% super on a 10-day fortnight.
The Role The Senior Telecommunications Specialist provides a lead role in planning, developing, designing, building, operating and managing complex telecommunications networks and services across Yurika Telecoms to deliver required customer satisfaction and service quality to internal and external customers.
Some of the accountabilities include but are not limited to: Manage, plan and design telecommunications networks and infrastructure to support Yurika Telecom's commercial and engineering operations using customer driven network architectures and designs; including testing and commissioning of new network equipment, development of technical requirements and specifications for network tender documents and propose improvements in telecommunications asset management to ensure the reliability and continuity of Yurika Telecom's Network.
Provide senior technical direction and knowledge to design carrier grade networks to meet Yurika Telecom's mission-critical communications service requirements for availability, continuity and performance.
Undertake a lead technical role in project scoping, analysis, design, development, testing and documenting activities for Yurika Telecom's networks and supporting infrastructure to ensure Yurika Telecom's business requirements are met.
Perform the lead technical role on telecommunications network related projects and provide specialist support to Telecommunications Specialists from the Communications Network Operations Centre (CNOC), Yurika Service Operations Centre (YSOC) and other Yurika Telecoms groups by reviewing service designs, managing complex network changes, performing investigations and resolving complex issues to ensure service level agreements are maintained for customer requests or problems relating to Telecommunications networks.
Provide significant design input to, and senior peer review of, network topology and configuration changes to ensure a carrier grade network is maintained; Undertake a lead role in network analysis, design, testing and deployment activities for new services to meet asset development and commercial business requirements while maintaining continuity of business operations by ensuring network security, capacity and performance is maintained to required standards.
Maintain the security, integrity and configuration of the Yurika Telecoms network and support systems, including the functionality of disaster recovery arrangements and procedures to ensure business continuity.
Assist in the development of strategic direction and plans used in the formulation and delivery of capital and operational works programs to meet the needs of Yurika Telecoms.
Develop and design telecommunications networks and infrastructure including testing and commissioning of new network equipment and technologies, development of technical requirements and specifications for network tender documents and propose improvements in telecommunications asset management plans to improve efficiency and to support the changing needs of the business.
Develop and deliver training, coaching and mentoring for Yurika Telecoms personnel in technically complex communications systems to keep employees abreast of new technologies and designs implemented by Yurika Telecoms.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Systems or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Cisco "Professional" level certification such as the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Routing & Switching, Service Provider or Design Professional (CCDP) networking qualification.
OR Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional qualifications, or equivalent.
Extensive experience in administering a complex Core Network environment.
Minimum 4 year experience and understanding of IT service principles, information technology security and service level management.
Registered as professional in the applicable industry body.
