PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company with operations in Laos, and pre-development assets in Papua New Guinea and Chile.

In Laos , PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in Phu Bia Mining Limited with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent.
Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust's two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.

In Papua New Guinea , PanAust holds a 100 per cent interest in the Frieda River Limited Copper-Gold project, which is a transformative pre-development integrated mining, renewable energy and infrastructure project.

In Chile , PanAust holds a 66 per cent interest in the Inca de Oro Copper-Gold Project through a Chilean incorporated joint venture company, Inca de Oro S. A.

The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Risk & Sustainability Superintendent to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contact, based in our Corporate Head Office in Fortitude Valley's James Street precinct.

Reporting to the Group Manager, Risk & Sustainability the role will be responsible for ensuring the consistent application of safety, environment and community, risk and sustainability standards and systems across the PanAust Group with a particular focus on the development and implementation of Sustainability initiatives in preparation for mandatory reporting under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards.

Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Develop, Implement and maintain overarching risk management & health, safety, environment and community (sustainability) standards, procedures and management plans, consistent with corporate policy, and aligned to Global and Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards Co-ordinate group level reporting to the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards, including climate risk and opportunities assessments, scenario analysis, aggregation of data across business units, internal review and report production.
Incorporate sustainability best practice into all areas of the business, including policies and processes.
Collaborate with Project Managers and project safety personnel to implement safety and sustainability management systems and plans.
Coordinate the implementation of the corporate risk management strategy and use of risk registers and other risk management tools including facilitating risk assessments and reviews.
Identify sustainability aligned activities and disclosures for sustainability reports and guidelines.
Provide input into the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual corporate reporting processes, including any National and Global sustainability reporting requirements.
Review operational sites to ensure proper assessment and management of the environmental and social impact our operations have had on the surrounding environment and communities and manage any associated regulatory obligations and implement approved initiatives.
Ensure compliance with all environmental statutory codes, acts, regulations in impacted areas of operations or projects, and align to a global best practice approach to meet Sustainability Standards Provide support and assistance on significant sustainability risk exposures with particular focus on social and environmental risk including cyanide code, ARD, tailings, closure and land disturbance.
Provide sustainability-related training and capacity building to internal teams.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Tertiary qualifications in an environmental or engineering discipline At least 8+ years' experience with exposure to areas in Safety, Risk, Environment and Governance Experience in mining and/or heavy industry environment is required TCFD experience which is essential to this role Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations and audits A thorough understanding of global sustainability benchmarks A proven ability to develop and apply environmental and community management systems International travel will be a requirement to this role.
Candidates will need to be willing to travel to Laos, PNG & Chile if required by the business.
