JLE Electrical is an industry leading electrical engineering and contracting company based in Dubbo - the regional hub of Central West NSW. We are an Authorised Level 1, 2 & 3 Service Provider, contractors designing and constructing overhead and underground high voltage & low voltage powerlines, substation manufacturing throughout the Essential Energy, Integral Energy, and Energy Australia Networks. JLE Group is equipped with a skilled workforce who are dedicated to deliver engineering solutions for our clients and we are seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to join our team based in Sydney.
Role Summary
The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed estimates for electrical projects, with a focus on large-scale projects such as HV commercial, industrial, renewable energy, high-voltage, and infrastructure projects. This role requires an in-depth understanding of electrical systems, including design, installation, and materials, along with a strategic approach to cost estimation. The Senior Electrical Estimator will be responsible for their own work while supporting junior estimators when required and collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver competitive and successful bids.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of precise and comprehensive cost estimates for electrical projects, encompassing materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Analyse project drawings, specifications, and technical documents to determine scope and requirements.
Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams to clarify project scope and align with client objectives.
Attend client meetings and site visits to understand project needs and site conditions.
Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure they meet project specifications and cost targets.
Develop detailed bid proposals and tender submissions, incorporating value engineering options when applicable.
Create and review detailed execution schedules and programs to support bids.
Develop in-depth project methodologies to reinforce bid strategies.
Prepare technical and commercial departures to accompany JLE bids.
Conduct risk assessments and recommend cost-effective risk mitigation strategies.
Maintain and update detailed cost breakdowns, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Facilitate tender review presentations for approval under JLE's Delegation of Authority.
Provide technical input and cost advice during contract negotiation and award phases.
Oversee the project handover process to the delivery team.

To Be Successful in This Role You Will Have:

10+ years electrical estimating experience.
Great organizational & computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Projects.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior staff.
A proactive, "can-do" attitude with the ability to tackle challenges head-on.
Thorough understanding of the electrical trade, including relevant legislation and standards.
Keen attention to detail, particularly concerning estimating and tender lodgement.
Strong organizational and management skills, including planning and evaluation.
Demonstrated financial accountability and adherence to budgets.
Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take the initiative.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Desirable:

Electrical estimating experience in renewables projects (Solar, Wind, etc.).
Overhead & underground electrical Utilities, major infrastructure projects, HV commercial/industrial electrical projects.
Experience using Simpro software or similar.
