Your role As a Settlements Specialist you will take ownership of managing the settlements function to ensure timely and accurate financial commitments.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with Trading and Risk teams, supporting their operations while ensuring compliance with internal processes and market best practices.
You will also play a key role in maintaining an efficient month-end process, delivering high-quality information for accurate financial reporting.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.
What you will do Wholesale Trading Settlements: Oversee the entire settlements process, ensuring all transactions are managed efficiently.
This includes verifying energy deals, preparing and reconciling settlement amounts, and ensuring the timely settlement of weekly and monthly energy-related transactions.
You will also manage and validate settlement systems and models. AEMO Prudential & ASX Margining: Calculate, forecast, and execute AEMO prudential requirements for retail operations while assisting with ASX margining validation. Compliance: Identify, monitor, and mitigate operational risks in the settlements function by implementing and documenting effective internal controls, ensuring that risks are adequately communicated and resolved. Systems & Procedures Development: Lead ongoing assessment and enhancement of settlement systems, processes, and procedures, ensuring strict adherence and accurate documentation.
Participate in structured projects and ad-hoc initiatives impacting settlement functions. Relationship Management: Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining high levels of professionalism, communication, and customer service Who you are Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are
In-depth knowledge of financial markets, settlement processes, and derivatives, including energy PPAs, environmental products, ASX electricity futures, and OTC trades. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise tasks effectively within deadlines. Understanding of basic accounting principles. A degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or equivalent Highly Desirable A self-starter who takes personal accountability and ownership of your work, delivering quality results.
