We now have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Assistant, known at JCU as a Remuneration Services Assistant, to join our team in the Human Resources Directorate.
Full time, continuing basisBased at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus in DouglasHEWL 4 : $68,694 - $72,973 + 17% superannuation, with a 3% pay increase from July 2025.WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE JCU is recruiting a Remuneration Services Assistant who is passionate about working in a payroll environment with other experienced payroll professionals.
Our ideal candidate will be eager to learn, enjoy a consistent day-to-day routine, and appreciate opportunities for development.
As a Remuneration Services Assistant, your contributions will significantly assist with enhancing the efficiency and level of customer support of payroll processes while also providing accuracy to the Remuneration function.
Your all-round payroll support will make you a valuable asset to the team.
Responsibilities include:
Payroll data entry – timesheets, leave, separation certificates, employment verifications, work arrangements and case driven data entry using strong attention to detailSuperannuation reporting, reconciliations, payment processing along with superannuation administrationPayroll queries – addressing staff enquiries regarding payroll and superannuation matters with clarity and patienceCustomer service excellence – delivering supportive customer service and coaching to educate staff on complex systems, entitlements and processesTeam administrative tasks including reviewing payroll tools, guides and communicationsWHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE You will bring enthusiasm, commitment and experience coupled with a desire to learn JCU processes and systems, specifically superannuation administration and payroll processing.

A passion for payroll is essential to ensure your success in this role.
Experience working in large and/or complex organisations is beneficial or a strong desire to learn and work in a complex, task-oriented payroll team working to meet defined timeframes and deadlines.
