Transport and Main Roads (Organisation site)Policy Planning & Regulation; Maritime Safety Queensland; Customer Services Safety & Regulation; Brisbane CBDSeeking an experienced Senior Policy Advisor to join Maritime Safety Queensland's BoatSafe team in Brisbane.In the role of Senior Policy Advisor, you will be part of the team responsible for the BoatSafe Accreditation program within Maritime Safety Queensland.Some of your responsibilities will include:Lead and manage an ongoing program of policy and legislative initiatives to reduce red tape, reform policy and legislation and improve maritime safety as they relate to the training of recreational marine licence applicants.Prepare written correspondence such as complex reports, briefing notes, submissions, departmental and other correspondence in accordance with departmental standards and to set timeframes relevant to the BoatSafe program.Drive identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities related to policies, processes and projects to enhance the team's program of work.Contribute to compliance initiatives within the BoatSafe program by working with accredited providers to drive improvement.Engage with and support the team in administrative appeals processes.Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, interest groups, other government agencies (federal, state and local), and the general public to resolve issues, provide advice and establish timelines and frameworks to deliver and implement initiatives.We recognise and celebrate that everyone is unique and seek the applicant best suited to the role.We will assess your experience, knowledge and acquired skills, as well as your potential for development and your personal qualities.To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:Mandatory qualifications and conditionsDue to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.While not mandatory, a recreational marine licence or other maritime experience will be highly regarded.Minimum of a valid vehicle drivers' licence.Requirements of the roleMaintains a high standard of practice through governance and risk management.Analyses information to proactively identify risks to the team's planned activities.Able to demonstrate strong skills in policy and legislative development and implementation.Strong time management and organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage changing priorities and deliver high quality outputs.The successful applicant will be subject to pre-employment checks before an offer of appointment.
