About the role
We are currently seeking a full-time Shipwright to join our Shore Based Maintenance Team.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Shore Based Engineer Shipwright assists in the maintenance of vessels, pontoon, vehicles, and tenders.
The Shipwright could work on installations of various kinds such as masts, frames, decking, fittings, machines, shafts, and safety equipment.
The Shipwright may build and install structures such as cabins, seats, fridges, machine mountings, propeller support, and rudders.
This role will also require you to determine repair requirements and procedures for a range of vessel fitted items and may make moulds and fabricate and repair vessels using materials such as aluminium, wood, glass, reinforced plastics, carbon fibre, Kevlar, fibreglass, and concrete.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Proactive in the planning of vessel internal looks Accurately maintain logs and work orders through to job completion and sign off Adherence to SOPS, Marine Memos, operation procedures, and WHS requirements Ensure all qualifications are kept up to date and provided to HR Remain adaptable and acceptable to change while working autonomously Responsible for fault finding and additional repairs Record all maintenance defects and defect ramifications Ensure sufficient stock of all items necessary to make your job run smoothly Advise your manager when maintenance shed stock is low Completion of ad hoc maintenance tasks and repairs under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager.
About you
The successful candidate will have proven ability in boat building, shipwright, or a marine finisher.
You will have experience with high-speed vessels and the requirements for presentation.
You will also have a high level of marine knowledge as well as installations and experience in conducting risk assessments and introducing practical safety measures.
You must be a team player with a positive and adaptable "can do" attitude.
To be successful in this role you will be someone who:
Maintains high levels of marine safety and compliance – Ensure all training and certificates are up to date Maintains a thorough and complete onboard job completion log Takes proactive remedial action to maintain the appearance of the vessels Is clean and tidy in all aspects Uses HELM (Asset Management System) interactively and maintains timely upkeep of maintenance requests Has an eye for detail and takes pride in their work Is proactive in finding and remedying any onboard issues with vessels Prioritizes safety and is risk-averse Exhibits cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to the needs of others Demonstrates a strong work ethic Minimum qualifications:
Trade qualifications as a Shipwright, or extensive experience in vessel repairs and shipwright-type work Open manual Driver's Licence HLTAID011 Provide First Aid & Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Working at heights Forklift Licence (desirable) Working in confined spaces (desirable) Benefits:
